Middle
The transition to Middle School is filled with a number of new experiences for students. At Zion we make every effort to accommodate the needs of our new middle schoolers. Our sixth grade program is designed to allow for changing of classes with a minimum of teachers. This helps the students learn to prepare for class changes and locker visits without having seven different teachers to adjust to as well. One extra year of growth is very helpful in preparing our students to succeed in seventh and eighth grade.
Each student in our middle school is required to take a rigorous academic schedule. The school day consists of 7 class periods, a mid morning nutrition break, and a lunch period. The academic focus of Zion’s middle school is designed to provide a firm foundation for student success in all facets of their high school years. Students develop and refine essential thinking and learning skills within departmentalized studies in language arts, literature, mathematics, social studies, science, and religion. This traditional “core” curriculum is enriched by electives in foreign language, art, physical education, and computer. In addition, qualified middle school students have the opportunity to successfully complete high school level courses and earn credits towards a Zion Lutheran High School diploma.
